Movie 36: Song of the Sea

36 SONG OF THE SEA (Ireland, 2014)
Dir: Tomm Moore
With the voices of: David Rawle, Brendan Gleeson...

Young Ben's life changes when he discovers that his little sister is a selkie, she takes the form of a seal when swimming in the sea.

This is a beautiful animation, with equally beautiful music, and a great use of Irish myths. I haven't seen Big Hero 6 yet, but I have the feeling it will not be as worthy of an Oscar as this one.

Movie 37: Click

37 CLICK (US, 2006)
Dir: Frank Coraci
Cast: Adam Slander, Kate Beckinsale, Christopher Walken...

Michael finds himself in the possession of a remote control that allows him to fast forward the moments of his life that bore him.

This is an easy comedy to relax too, though it becomes overly dramatic towards the end.

Walking Dead

Movie 38: Nightcrawler

Dir: Dan Gilroy
Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed...

When Louis Bloom decides to become a freelance cameraman who specializes on violent crime, he takes his trade to a new level of ruthlessness.

I tend to think Gyllenhaal is an overrated actor, but this performance is his first that impresses me.
Nightcrawler is a compelling commentary on violence in the news, and how sociopaths can thrive in such environments.
Definitely worth seeing.
